The impact of cloud technology development is getting more and more obvious, even in the areas that aren’t considered directly dependent on the IT industry. A good deal of our everyday activities moves to the online space and this trend keeps transforming our everyday habits and professional profiles. The areas that proliferated the most in the previous decade are e-commerce and online business, but there are plenty of other industries that are being significantly transformed by the cloud. Global migrations to the cloud computing platform have enabled a faster growth in many industries including education, healthcare and entertainment.

Education

New technology developments influence education industry in many ways. For one, there is a significant change in professional profiles that are becoming popular in a global job market. IT professionals are seen as the workforce of the future and are getting more and more professional and academic opportunities. The availability of different cloud services has contributed to the expansion of online learning, as it allowed educational institutions to organize online courses, conferences or webinars, where it is easy to share educational materials and communicate with other participants.
Besides this, cloud computing technology has enabled the educational institutions worldwide to connect and collaborate. Also, a growing number of digital libraries made the most important scientific works available to a larger number of students and academics. Thus, they have more opportunities to expand their knowledge and do research using the cloud resources.

Healthcare

Healthcare industry has gone through some major transformations in most parts of the world. The implementation of cloud services into the functioning of clinics and hospitals has simplified the administrative problems and improved their overall efficiency. The administrative staff is able to work in simple software programs that can store and process large amounts of files, such as patients’ records. In addition, the process of cloud migration is affordable and it doesn’t require large investments.
Despite the privacy and security issues that have been a major impediment for adopting the cloud solutions, it seems that the healthcare industry has chosen to focus on creating a more efficient working environment. Many healthcare institutions have already gone through the process of cloud integration. Still, it is expected that the cloud in healthcare is further to grow in the following years, according to Markets and Markets report.

Entertainment

With the appearance of the streaming services such as YouTube and NetFlix, the entertainment industry has got a whole new look. Music and movies are available on different kinds of services which allows the worldwide audience to watch and download them for free. Despite the possible issues with copyright infringement, these services keep being popular among the users, which raises the question of the future of traditional entertainment industry. The movie industry is concerned about all the potential loss that the new entertainment habits can bring to the notable movie industry centers. Traditional cinemas are less appealing to the audience, as the newest movies are available online and could be watched for free.

Apparently, the cloud has different effects on our habits and its growth has justifiably raised questions about the future trends. What happens to the entertainment and all the other industries remains yet to be seen.

Nothing can replace the motivating experience of working with a good language trainer, whether you are having individual or group training sessions. It’s the perfect place to ask all those silly questions and make as many mistakes as you like. But what takes place in the training room or during your telephone or Webex sessions, is not in itself enough to ensure you make the meteoric progress you had hoped. Taking charge of your own learning process outside the training room, on the other hand, almost certainly will. But where should you start?

Setting Aside Time To Practice

As a busy professional whose boss probably has greater expectations of your language proficiency than you do, it is very challenging to find time to set aside on a regular basis to review and extend your language knowledge. How do you decide what and how to study in the limited time you have? As a first port of call, always ask your trainer for help – they will be able to set targeted tasks to improve your skills. They can also help you to decide what sort of learner you are (visual, auditory, kinaesthetic…) and direct you to specific materials for self-study.

But never assume that learning a language is a passive process, you need to work actively on improving your skills by taking charge of your own learning. Make time to review what you have covered in your face-to-face sessions and in your self-study by re-reading information regularly. This is a critical part of the comprehension and memorisation process which makes any language learning successful. It stimulates your memory and helps you to retain new vocabulary. Research being carried out at the Center for Advanced Studies in Language (CASL) in Maryland, USA, shows that improving your working memory will help you to absorb and activate language much more quickly and effectively. Making progress quickly is not only motivating, it also means you will be able to use the language more confidently in real life professional and every day situations.

Using Technology To Help You Learn

If you think you are too busy to sit down and study, there are plenty of ways to make your chosen language accessible on the move. Consider apps for your smart phone so you can practise as you travel, news channels that you can play in the car or films in the target language that help you to visualise the storyline, even if you can’t understand every spoken word. Even when you are tired, let the language wash over you so you attune your ear to its pronunciation. There is no such thing as too much exposure to the language.

The Internet presents a wealth of listening material for all languages. But what should you choose? Much of the material is authentic (the “real thing”, if you like, and not graded to beginner / pre-intermediate / intermediate, and so on) and as such may appear quite inaccessible if you are a beginner. Najiba, an Arabic trainer, recommends playing one minute of news every day in the target language even at beginner level so you familiarise yourself with its rhythms and sounds. She says “I begin every session like this. The learners think they don’t understand, but you play it again and they can hear key words, and soon they get the main message. I encourage them to try it at home.” It is a great way of getting used to the language as it is spoken, rather than the sanitised chunks you learn in the training room – the advantage here, of course, is that it is not then a shock to hear native speakers when you visit the country in question.

Ideally, of course, you should try to spend some time in the country (or one of the countries) where the target language is spoken. Experiencing real use of the language is a very motivating experience, especially when your attempts to communicate actually work and generate the response you were hoping for. Even if your attempts fail at first, you need to be brave and keep having a go – every mistake is part of the learning process. Making an effort to speak another language is a tremendous way to build relationships, personally and professionally, and almost always generates a positive reaction. And you never know, you might even impress your boss.

In times of migration and globalization parents often come across the necessity for their children to learn a second language. Children of foreign workers, ambassadors and foreign affairs department employees have to adapt to different languages, cultures and surroundings while moving from one country to another.

Bilingual children in the modern world.

One of the main reasons to expose a child to a second language is their ability to pick up vocabulary and develop fluent speech extremely fast at young age. We recommend, however, enrolling into class not before the age of four when the child is already big enough to participate in classroom activities and interact with the teacher.
Another reason for learning a second language, besides the strict necessity, is the fact that it may develop a better understanding and deeper knowledge of one’s mother tongue. Also, memorizing words and songs in a different language improves memory and cognitive capacity. Taking classes from native speaking teachers enables the child to develop pronunciation skills close to those that speak the language in a native way.

How language classes for children should be structured.

Language teachers should be native speakers, qualified teachers mostly with at least elementary school teaching experience. Language classes for children are led in spacious, friendly rooms allowing the children to enjoy the combination of learning through games and songs. At first, the focus comes on verbal communication since the idea is to build confidence by making the child speak and understand the language fluently without struggling with grammar rules at this stage. The main key to success is meeting each child’s needs and developing a personal approach to each student. This is why teachers and course planners follow age guidelines carefully, making sure the gap between the children in the same group is not more than one or two years. Being in a close age group children have a better cooperation, learn faster and have more fun during class.
The classes should be dynamic and energizing and based on “play and learn” approach. Every encounter is full of activities such as dancing, singing, coloring and role playing – all is done in the target language. This is a great opportunity to socialize, make new friends and express oneself in fun and healthy atmosphere.
Raising bilingual children requires tolerance, persistence and creativity. Children patterns of learning are different from those of adults. This is why our programs are developed especially to encourage the interest of our young students; however parents are welcome to watch the classes as well.

When trying to learn a new skill it’s important to do everything you can to give yourself the best chance of success – learning a new language is no different. Whether your foreign language training is learning Cantonese or trying to learn business English

By preparing yourself and setting a clear list of goals you’re essentially giving yourself a road map for success in learning your foreign language. Follow some of the tips below and get motoring towards fluency in your foreign language!

Image courtesy of zinjixmaggir from Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/16591741@N00/4954719152/

What do you want?

The first step in creating a roadmap is to choose your destination. Whether it’s fluency in your chosen language, or whether you just want to be able to order a meal on holiday – that is your final destination. Once you’ve set your final destination, place plenty of smaller goals along the way so that you’ve always got something to work towards. Having clear goals is a great first step towards achieving those goals.

Make sure you’ve set yourself a quantifiable goal – “Get better at Italian” is an admirable goal, but “be able to order a meal in Italian” is easier to measure and ensures you’re learning about the things that really matter to you – which brings us to the next point.

Work Out What Really Matters

Your roadmap is personal to you, so why not prioritise the things that are more important? It’s important to motivate yourself to follow your roadmap, and the best way to do that is to work out your “Why”. Why do you want to learn a foreign language? Take the list of goals from the last point, and work out why each of these is important to you.

Working out why you want to reach these goals should help you feel passionate about reaching them, and when you feel passionate you’ll be a lot more keen to achieve them, helping you avoid procrastination and stay focussed.

Be Confident

Take a look at your goals. Do they look unreachable? Scary? Don’t worry about it. The most important part to holding your roadmap together is confidence. No matter what happens on the way, no matter what mistakes you might make and no matter how scary your goals might look.

To bring it down to the most basic level: Your main enemy here is fear. Your main ally is confidence. No matter what happens you need to make sure that you remain confident. You’re working towards bettering yourself – why shouldn’t you be confident about it? Learn from your mistakes, but then shrug them off.

Focus

Learning a language is tough. You’re going to need to put in plenty of work to reach your goals, but luckily you should be brimming with confidence after the last step – now it’s just a case of putting in the time to learn the language. Make sure you set aside some time every day to get closer to your goals, whether it’s five minutes or five hours.

During your work time, minimise distractions. This means closing your email, your facebook and even switching your smartphone to silent. As you study you should focus on meeting your goal, and soon the language should start making sense in your head and you should start to see real progress.

What else?

There are a few smaller details you should take care of while preparing your road map to success – remember to reward yourself for meeting your targets so you stay motivated – If you’re goal is to revise for 2 hours a day before a test, celebrate on the day after the test with a shorter session!

Your goals can be as conservative or as brave as you want, but don’t be afraid to push yourself!

Endangered languages are ones that risk their no longer being used, and this could be because of speakers turning to other languages or dying. When a language finds no more speakers (native or otherwise) it is regarded as an extinct language. Although languages have been lost over a period of time through the course of history, present day opinion points towards globalization increasing the rate at which languages continue to disappear.

Languages in Today’s World:

The present day scenario is one where languages which are spoken more commonly dominate ones which aren’t spoken as commonly, and what’s also been noticed is that languages which are looked upon as economically powerful tend to dominate all others. This leads to the belief that languages which do not find many speakers risk disappearing altogether in not too distant a future.

The Stats

As per the ‘Ethnologue’, a print and web publication that holds stats for over 6,000 languages (6,909, to be exact), 473 of these languages are categorised as ‘nearly extinct’. This implies that only a handful of elders speaking the given language are still alive. Estimates say that if no remedial measures are taken then more than half of all languages spoken today will extinct before the turn of the century, and this number could be as high as 90% according to some estimates.

Why are Endangered Languages a Concern?

The extinction of languages, both written and spoken, will not only lead to a loss of cultural wealth, but also of imbedded ancestral knowledge which is particularly true when it comes to languages of the indigenous people. There are different reasons why the loss of languages should be a concern, and these include:

- Loss of Knowledge: There are a number of instances where small speech communities are privy to specific knowledge and when the next generation does not learn the given language, there is a stop in the flow of this knowledge. Examples in case include knowledge about specific plants, animals, medical cures, etc.

In addition, languages should be looked upon as great sources of history, literature, and philosophy, and when a language becomes extinct, we are bound to lose out on a plethora of information.

- Human Rights: The loss of a language is not voluntary in most instances, and involves some form of human intervention in the form of repression of the weaker section. In such a scenario, the human rights aspect should not be ignored.

Some Endangered Languages

There is no definitive list of endangered languages, and the 473 mentioned in the latest edition of the Ethnologue is the best number to go with. Given below are some endangered languages, and as one can see, they are found in different parts of the world.

Af-Boon or Boon: Spoken in the Middle Jubba Region of Somalia by 59 people (data as of 2000).

Tshwa or Tsoa: Spoken in Zimbabwe and Botswana by around 7,400 people.

Xirikkwa or Xiri: Spoken in South Africa, with less than a 100 speakers left.

A’Tong: Spoken in the Southern Meghalaya region of India by around 15,000 people (data as of the 1920s, no recent data available).

Aimol: Spoken in Burma by 2,640 people (as of 2001).

Biete or Biate or Bete: A

Kukish language

spoken in India by around 19,000 people.

Darmiya or Darma: Spoken in parts of India and Nepal, with around 3,000 speakers left (as of 2006).

Abaga: With just five speakers as of 1994, this language from Papua New Guinea is near extinction.

Ainbai: Another endangered language from Papua New Guinea, this language spoken in the Sanduan province is used by around 100 people (as of 2003).

Bella Coola or Nuxálk: Spoken around Bella Coola in British Columbia (Canada), there are only 20 to 30 people who still speak this language.

Tlingit: Home to Western Canada and Southeast Alaska, Tlingit was spoken by 1,141 people as per data collected in between 2006 and 2010.

Efforts to try and revive some endangered languages continue to be underway, and the list only continues to grow because new dialects and languages still continue to be discovered. If we are to truly save all endangered languages from extinction, it will need more than a conscious effort, it will need cooperation from local bodies, the right use of resources, the ability to break cultural barriers, and so much more.

When trying to learn or speak a new language, your native accent might make it difficult for you. Here are some tips that can help you overcome your accent so that you’ll be able to better pronounce words and communicate with others.

Eliminate Preconceptions

One of the reasons many people have trouble overcoming their accent is actually that they have incorrect preconceptions of what another language should sound like. When learning new words, listen very actively and really hear exactly what the sounds are. Hearing words for how they really sound and not how you think they sound can make a very big difference in your ability to pronounce words in another language.

Speak Slowly

The most important way to overcome your accent is to speak slowly. Try speaking very slowly and concentrating on just one word at a time. Most people find that it’s much easier to eliminate their accent than they thought it was. Speaking slowly will help you pronounce words more correctly and clearly, and it will greatly increase your ability to communicate with other people. Even if a heavy accent still exists, talking slowly will help native speakers hear and understand exactly what you are saying. Talking too fast makes it too difficult for them to process your words.

Say and Repeat

When learning a new word, say it out loud in its correct pronunciation, and repeat it many times. Repetition is the key to remembering and speaking the correct pronunciation, because it essentially helps you train your brain to say the word in the proper accent. With sufficient repetition and practice, it will become easier for you to automatically recall and use the proper pronunciation of the word without your native accent.

Practice the Accent

It’s so simple, yet so important. Oftentimes people with heavy accents are apprehensive about using another language, because they’re not confident about their abilities and are afraid of potential language barriers. You can’t overcome your accent, however, if you don’t practice. Whenever possible, use the language and converse with native speakers. Try to take advantage of opportunities to practice speaking rather than shy away from challenges.

Join a Group

If you can find a language study group in your area, join it. Practicing with others, having mock conversations, and helping each other will increase your confidence and help you overcome your accent. If possible, join a class with an experienced teacher who can help coach you. Learning in a school-like atmosphere is a great way to practice correct pronunciation and acquire other skills that will help improve your ability to communicate with native speakers despite your accent.

Study the Language

Languages differ wildly in the way they pronounce letters and in the cadence of their speech. Try to study the language, and begin by learning how vowels are pronounced, which is a particular challenge when learning English. Also try to pay attention to the rhythm of speech and the intonation of words. Altering the way your voice rises and falls when speaking another language may help you overcome your accent.

For any business considering trading overseas being fluent in the local language is a powerful tool in their competitive armoury. In essence, it demonstrates that an organisation is professional and easy to deal with and sets them apart from the rest. Having a passing knowledge of the local language won’t cut the mustard in today’s increasingly competitive world as organisations strive to offer a more targeted, local and personal service for their customers.

Image found from Flickr Credits

It is so important to be in tune with the local language, and indeed customs, because the wrong choice of words can easily lead to misunderstandings and cause a stalemate in communications.

Free to set up anywhere

We’re continually told that business is global and the internet and the mobile office make it possible to work anywhere. Gaining a slice of lucrative emerging markets is a tantalising prospect. It is a shame the only thing obstructing businesses from exporting their services overseas is the language barrier.

In a survey from the British Chambers of Commerce, published in April 2012,61% of non-exporters (likely to consider trading internationally) cited their lack of language skills as a barrier.

Another worrying statistic is that when it comes to French, one of the most widely spoken languages, of those business owners claiming some language knowledge (73%), only 4% can converse well enough to conduct international deals.

The figure plunges further for Chinese – the language spoken by one of the fastest growing economic markets and tipped by the IMF to increase by 9.5% this year alone. Only 4% of business owners claim any knowledge of Chinese and less than 1% are confident at speaking it fluently.

Key to everyday business dealings

The importance of understanding the local language comes sharply into focus for any organisation with amalgamation, takeover, or setting up of overseas premises on the cards across South America and China, in particular. In those parts of the world, beneficiaries are legally required to complete treaties, import documents and other important regulatory documents in the local language.

Then comes the onerous task of setting up labour, infrastructure, negotiating the costs of raw materials and supplier agreements. Although viable, lacking fluency in the native language to communicate with contacts and employees at every level puts organisations at a serious disadvantage and can lead to costly mistakes.

Being fluent can boost productivity

When significant language barriers exist in organisations they can have a serious widespread impact on business operations, as highlighted in the 2011 Forbes Insights / Rosetta Stone survey.

Out of 100 executives who manage diverse workforces at large US businesses (with annual revenues of more than $500 million) 65% reported the existence of language barriers between their companies’ managers/executives and other workers.

When asked to select the most significant consequences of these language barriers:

- 67% stated miscommunications leading to inefficiency

- 46% that miscommunication makes collaboration difficult

- 43% that productivity is lower than it should be

- 37% that customer service suffers

- 24% that workers don’t have necessary respect for managers/executives

- 24% that attracting and retaining talent is more difficult

The respondents overwhelmingly stated that workers were more productive when their managers communicated with them in their native language, with 52% agreeing ‘strongly’ followed by 32% stating they ‘agree’.

The research just goes to show that for any organisation considering global expansion being able to converse in the native language paves the way for easier and more productive business.

Development of technology has always been a marker of changes in existing social habits. Probably the greatest technological invention in the last couple of decades is the Internet. Its rise and expansion blurred geographical boundaries and created an open ecosystem for development of different fields. The resources available online and the web-based technologies improved many professional activities. Translation industry is one of the fields that was deeply impacted by web-based technologies called cloud computing.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is a relatively recent trend that increasingly affects many aspects of our personal and professional lives. It refers to services and applications that are offered on-demand, meaning that their infrastructure is stored on hosted servers while the service is available via the Web. The services are most often charged on pay-per-use basis and are in the form of software, infrastructure or the whole platform. The most popular forms are online storage and backup services that include syncing files across multiple devices and enhance file sharing. Such features make our documents accessible and shareable which are probably the two most necessary features in modern society.

Internet = Information

Many industries have already adopted cloud solutions and integrated them in their businesses. As for languages and translation, there seem to be a great enthusiasm for cloud adoption. In his paper Cloud Translation Luigi Muzii discusses cloud computing in translation industry and explores the impact technology had onto our everyday lives. He gives some very picturesque examples of how modern society functions.

At the beginning of the paper, Muzii mentions Harry Potter movie scene where Hermione Granger spends hours in the library looking for answers to certain questions. At the time the movie was shown in cinemas the kids of that time have already been familiar with Google Search and they wandered why Hermione didn’t simply google whatever she needed.

This example illustrates how the Internet changed the way we approach information. For translators, the online knowledge database is a valuable source to draw information from. However, this is not the only benefit translators have from Internet technology. Web-based applications improved conditions for collaboration which is essential in the age where the dominant mantra goes: “cheaper, faster and better.”

English: Cloud Computing Image (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Collaborative Translation

Cloud computing applications include many features that significantly facilitate collaboration. Since the files are not tied to a local computer they can be accessed from multiple devices, so all the members of a translation team can access it at any time and any place. Besides this, the apps such as Google Docs allow different users to view and edit files simultaneously and make real time changes. Furthermore, it is not necessary to struggle with different file versions and send them back and forth to all the team members. Most of translation workflow systems rely on such serial approaches that include multiple revisions and updates. With cloud computing applications translation process is faster and smoother which results in a greater number of projects being finished in less time. After all, this is what all industries seek to achieve.

Technological inventions all stream towards reducing the time necessary for performing particular tasks. Tools and resources provided by online services created a whole new setting for many industries. In translation cloud computing tools and techniques resulted in increased productivity and this is very important in the times of blooming publishing industry. More publications involve more translations which is why it is important that at least the technical part of translation process be facilitated as much as possible.

In the times long past, when jobs involving practical skills and crafts were the only ones feeding families and receiving appreciation from the community, in order for one to become a member of a profession, he/she needed to go through a special training period, called apprenticeship. During this “course” of sorts, the knowledge-hungry individual was given the opportunity to learn all there is about the future calling of his/hers, simply by spending time with his employer-to-be, following his/her every step and learning all there is about the whole process.

Today, in many countries of the world, craftsmanship has become less valuable to societies than science and general knowledge. In fact, often, academic circles look down upon those who make their living with the help of their strength and practical skills. Fortunately, with the expansion of the Internet and all of its informational power, things are gradually changing.

Online education and Financial Aid (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Basically, in many parts of the world, the problem with getting adequate education stems from the fact that countless families cannot afford sending their children to school, let alone college or any forms of secondary and tertiary education. So, countless individuals reach the stage when they are supposed to find work, realizing that they lack proper experience, knowledge and education. Lucky for them and future generations to come, some countries of the world, like the US, Australia and a great number of European ones made online vocational courses and tests in order to help people get qualified for different walks of life.

Online vocational courses are capable of determining one’s business career through a set of questions that the student answers, assisting them in their quest for a calling. Furthermore, without leaving the house, people of today can learn how to use the computer and many of its most acclaimed software packages, getting the qualifications they need for many job positions. Most commonly, online courses offer MS Office trainings and multiple language courses. However, there are those which focus on crafts as well.

One of the latest additions to the sphere of online education is SAVE training and its Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Online. Basically, the abbreviation stands for Sustainable Australian Vocational Education, and the training allows the workers from this country to get the qualifications they need, without leaving the computer. This course enables studying at your own tempo, matching your busy pace of life.

English: Hands collaborating in co-writing or co-editing or co-teaching in online education. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

There are real, qualified people behind the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Online, and these people offer support 24/7. This piece of information is bound to be useful for many learners who can only dedicate time to learning during the weekends or nights. The entire course takes place online and, once a person reaches the required stage of education and shows his/her practical knowledge, this educational fascility, being fully supported by the government, issues a certificate which shows that the person has reached a certain level of professional qualification.

All in all, the world is changing and information is now closer to us than ever. It would be a shame not to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and get online education as soon as possible.

Music is a powerful communication tool in these days of constant cross-cultural contact via blogs, Facebook, Twitter, forums and so on. If you are not sure you have expressed your opinion clearly enough through your words, posting a link to a song can make a huge difference with regards to how people understand you.

But does music actually enhance your foreign language abilities? And if it does, how does it happen?

Words have a power all their own (Photo credit: Lynne Hand)

The most boring part in learning a new language is having to study meaningless sequences of words over and over again until you know them by heart; repeating grammar rules time and time again until you can quote them word for word. But that only works if you are having an exam; it doesn’t engage your emotions in any way, it doesn’t give you any relating context to leave a lasting imprint on your memory. But music does… It puts everything into context, it makes you feel happy or sad, it kind of seamlessly finds its way into your memory and stays there pretty much forever.

Singing along has an amazing positive effect on pronunciation. Let’s take for example French, where the way words are written often has little to do with the way they are pronounced. If you listen to a French song and have the lyrics in front of you, you can actually “see” the proper pronunciation, which you can later implement in your conversations. Whenever you are trying to sing along with your favourite singer, you are actually absorbing their accent.

Songs really help in developing comprehension skills. Try making out the words of a song, it really enhances your listening ability; and then, if there are any that are unknown to you, don’t go immediately to the dictionary, try understanding the context, the words around the new one, you’ll probably get it right.

Music is a powerful mnemonic tool, i.e. makes remembering easier and faster. If your language teacher creates a song for, let’s say, verb tenses or conjunctions, you are far more likely to remember them, than if you were reading them in a textbook and making yourself remember them.

Listening to contemporary music in the language you are learning helps you understand better how people are communicating today. Textbooks usually contain zero, or very few, modern phrases and expressions; they are more focused on teaching you how the language works and not how people use it. However, listening to a popular hit and reading the lyrics can teach you a little slang, useful sentence structures, contemporary idioms – things which will be extremely valuable if you find yourself in a situation where you have to communicate with someone in that language.

It’s no wonder that as early as kindergarten, children are learning cheerful songs in foreign languages and that high school language classes often involve song exercises (for example – fill in the blanks in the lyrics while listening to the song). Songs make things so much easier to remember and understand. They not only teach the language, they tell of the ways of the people in that culture, they teach valuable lessons on how to properly interact with those people.

Music is a precious instrument in learning a language and no one should neglect its endless helping power!
